How can high school English teachers get all of their students–those who are three years ahead and those who are five years behind–to love to read complex literature?
In this workshop, the edWebinar leaders discuss the latest Science of Reading research that argues that adolescents need a differentiated approach to basic skills development, particularly through fluency practice, to engage with advanced text. A veteran tenth-grade English teacher describes her approach to fluency practice and how it triggers an emotional connection to text even for her most reluctant readers.
Once she has described the progress students make in accessing advanced texts, the teacher discusses how her students take the next step by debating responses to text-based questions with peers and surfacing misconceptions.
The team demonstrates how the Riveting Results app integrates these research-based approaches into one solution.
This recorded edWebinar is of interest to high school teachers, administrators, and district leaders.

As Chief Product Officer, she has continued to work closely with teachers to improve Riveting Results’ ease of implementation and its effectiveness.
From 2010 to 2015 Deborah led Amplify’s development of its middle school digital ELA program from concept to adoption by the state of California.
