Teachers face the overwhelming challenge of helping all students meet grade-level standards, but where do they begin when their students are starting in wildly different places? This edWebinar will provide teachers with the tools to evaluate the specific reading needs of their students before exploring research-based strategies for fostering critical thinking across reading levels.
Attendees will walk away with resources that they can use to seamlessly integrate foundational reading tools into their classroom community, creating an inclusive environment that enhances literacy skills for all students.
This edWebinar will be of interest to middle and high school teachers and school and district leaders. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
About the Presenter
Carolyn Foster is a Senior Instructional Designer at Carnegie Learning. She has spent more than 10 years as a reading specialist, supporting adolescent learners to develop critical literacy skills both in and out of the classroom. Her passion lies in the intersection of building community-based learning opportunities and the design and implementation of accessible, research-driven literacy instruction. She holds a B.A. from Catawba College and an M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University.
