About the Presenters
Savannah Campbell is a K-5 reading specialist, literacy consultant, and the teacher behind Campbell Creates Readers, a website devoted to structured literacy. With over 14 years of experience in education, Savannah brings both heart and expertise to her work. In 2022, she was named Teacher of the Year for both her elementary school and all elementary schools in her district. She holds two master’s degrees in education from the College of William and Mary. Savannah is both Orton-Gillingham and LETRS trained. As the host of the Creating Readers podcast, she shares practical, research-based strategies to help teachers strengthen their literacy instruction. Having transitioned from balanced literacy to structured literacy, Savannah is passionate about supporting educators through that shift. Her greatest hope in life is to allow all children to live the lives they want by helping them become literate individuals.
Barbara Steinberg brings a wealth of experience spanning over 25 years in education, starting as a dedicated classroom teacher and evolving into a champion for individuals with learning differences, such as dyslexia. As the visionary founder of PDX Reading Specialist, she is on a mission to inspire CONFIDENT and CAPABLE learners. Barbara is an internationally recognized speaker and has spoken on behalf of distinguished organizations such as Learning Ally, edWeb.net, and Decoding Dyslexia. She empowers educators with the knowledge, tools, and mindset needed to both prevent and overcome reading challenges. Barbara stands as a beacon in education, championing literacy through her dedication to evidence-based practices and the transformative impact of a knowledgeable teacher.
Molly Ness, Ph.D. is a former classroom teacher, a reading researcher, and a teacher educator. She earned a doctorate in reading education at the University of Virginia and spent 16 years as an Associate Professor at Fordham University in New York City. The author of five books, Dr. Ness served on the Board of Directors for the International Literacy Association and is a New York state chapter founder of the Reading League. In 2024, Dr. Ness was invited to serve on the New York State Dyslexia Task Force. Dr. Ness created the End Book Deserts podcast. She is currently writing a forthcoming Scholastic book. In 2024, she founded Dirigo Literacy, a literacy consulting firm supporting schools, districts, and states in aligning with and implementing the Science of Reading. Dr. Ness enjoys driving her ice-hockey-obsessed teenage daughter to the rink, learning how to fly fish, or hiking with her poorly behaved goldendoodle.
