The ability to understand complex texts is a critical driver of college and career readiness. But how can we guarantee every student in our schools has the opportunity to build knowledge from complex texts, no matter their decoding ability or language proficiency? This edWebinar established a rationale for why educators should see complex texts as the starting point—not the end goal—of instruction for every student.

Viewers explore how to balance complex, grade-level text with students’ individual reading needs in order to build the background knowledge and vocabulary essential to lifelong language comprehension.

This recorded edWebinar is of interest to middle and high school teachers and school and district leaders.
