Research has identified the effectiveness of building morphological awareness to illuminate students’ understanding of meaningful word parts—an integral part of literacy instruction in a morphophonemic language! Morphological awareness enhances word recognition, spelling, vocabulary, and overall comprehension for all students, particularly for those in the intermediate grades. For older, struggling students, a systematic approach to morphology instruction can help close the “proficiency gap” in an engaging, multisensory manner.

In this edWebinar, teachers of older students, whether regular education or interventionists, learn practical ways to effectively integrate morphology instruction in their current ELA or content-area classes. Research-based resources and strategies are also shared to help teachers of grades 3 and up consider the essentials when choosing or implementing morphological awareness into their current curricula to improve literacy proficiency for their students.

This recorded edWebinar is of interest to K-12 teachers, school and district leaders, and education technology leaders.
