About the Presenters
Joy Allcock, M.Ed. is an independent literacy consultant and facilitator of teacher professional development throughout New Zealand and internationally. She has presented at New Zealand and international literacy conferences (IRA, ASCD/ACEL), is an author of a range of literacy resources for teachers and students, and is the leader of Shine Literacy Research Project (designed and evaluated by Massey University).
Meghann Hickey, M.S. Ed. is an education professional with a strong background in child development and early childhood education. Meghann began her career as a lead teacher in a Massachusetts infant/toddler program. She honed her policy skills as a Policy Associate at ECEC in Washington, D.C., tracking state and federal legislation. Then at the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), she trained educators to meet high-quality standards within the Accreditation of Early Learning Programs division. Meghann then worked at Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) developing online training modules for early educators under the Ready to Learn grant. Currently, she manages Hatch Early Learning’s professional development, driving tech integration in early education. Meghann holds a master’s in early childhood studies from Walden University and a bachelor’s in family studies from the University of New Hampshire, with dual minors in education and deaf studies.
