About the Presenter

Dr. Almitra L. Berry is a nationally recognized motivational speaker, author, and consultant on the topic of culturally and linguistically diverse learners in America’s K-12 education system. She is an advisor-contributor to Perfection Learning’s Connections Literature multilingual supports. Her works focus on equity and academic achievement for culturally and linguistically diverse learners. Dr. Berry hosts the award-winning podcast Educational Equity Emancipation. Her book, Effecting Change for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learners, and numerous other articles focus on educational equity and instructional practices.

A graduate of University of California, Davis, Dr. Berry has worked with leaders and systems throughout the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean. She’s presented at scores of national and international conferences on equity, leadership, curriculum reform, and meeting the needs of historically underserved and marginalized learners. She calls upon educators and educational leaders to evaluate policy, curricula, instruction, supervision, and professional learning with a lens focused on equity.

About the Moderator

Dori Veto is the VP of Product Marketing and Engagement at Perfection Learning. Her career started in the classroom as a high school English teacher. Her 20+ year career in education has been dedicated to supplemental educational services, product development, and marketing for K-12 literacy programs used across the country. Dori holds a Bachelor of Arts in English education from Iowa State University and a Master of Education from the University of Illinois Chicago. She is passionate about literacy initiatives to help all children reach their potential.
