While contemplating the numerous factors that must be considered when creating time for literacy instruction, an exact amount of time and “essential ingredients” can be difficult to determine. Research has yielded some insight to guide the creation of a literacy block featuring maximum benefits for all students. Among other factors, achieving this goal through powerful whole-group instruction time will be explored.

About the Presenter
Dr. Julie Klingerman, owner of LoudonClear Literacy Consulting, LLC, has worked in education for more than 36 years, during which she has been a classroom teacher, literacy coach, and reading specialist for primary and secondary students. She earned her doctorate in reading and literacy in 2016 and has been an adjunct instructor of literacy for graduate students at Liberty University and Wilson College. Dr. Klingerman has also been a national LETRS® (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) Professional Learning Facilitator since 2018. Presently, Dr. Klingerman creates nationally recognized presentations that focus on bridging the gap between research and practice.
