Join us for a transformative and interactive edWebinar designed for classroom teachers, coaches, and building and district leaders focused on transforming grading and assessment practices into effective feedback instruments for fostering student success.

When school and classroom grading systems emphasize completion and compliance, we penalize students for taking on challenges and risks and actually hinder learning and growth. To foster meaningful experiences, we must align our methods with research by prioritizing engagement, feedback, and mastery. This approach encourages exploration and innovation, ultimately enhancing student learning.

This edWebinar will move beyond traditional approaches to improving grading practices that focus only on changing beliefs or eliminating certain practices. Dave Nagel, Author and Founder of The Center for Collaborative Expertise, and Bruce Potter, Co-Founder of The Center for Collaborative Expertise, will share comprehensive evidence-based approaches to grading and feedback, offering practical methods that empower educators to enhance grading while fostering a dynamic culture of deeper student engagement and meaningful learning outcomes. This session will provide practical, actionable solutions for improving grading actions, including:

  • Examples of grading and feedback practices that enhance assessment capability in students
  • How to enhance the accuracy of grades and feedback through clarity of scoring
  • Actions for collaborative teams (PLCs) when determining grading and scoring actions
  • An introduction to The Clarity of Scoring Grading Guide©, a tool to help teachers design generative learning experiences focused on a surface-deep-transfer
  • Actions to promote goal setting and encourage viewing grades as constructive feedback, not just a final outcome
  • Tools, templates, and work samples designed for immediate use in classrooms and schools

This edWebinar is perfect for K-12 school leaders, district leaders, teacher leaders, and instructional coaches dedicated to enriching their grading practices and improving the educational experiences of their teachers and students.
