Rereading is more than repetition; it’s a purposeful strategy that shifts goals, deepens comprehension, and opens the door for every learner to participate actively. In this second edWebinar of the 2026 Sadlier Phonics Institute, you’ll explore how rereading familiar decodable texts creates access and opportunity for in-depth comprehension discussions, culturally relevant cognitive routines, and even rich, contextualized math tasks. When young learners engage with familiar texts, they draw on their own funds of knowledge, building positive identities as readers, thinkers, and mathematicians from the very start.

Key Takeaways:

  • Understand the power and purpose of multiple reads, how shifting goals across rereads supports fluency, comprehension, and deeper engagement.
  • Discover how familiar texts create equitable entry points for all learners, enabling every student to participate meaningfully in literacy and math conversations.
  • Leave with a vision for how intentional rereading nurtures young children’s positive identities as learners, readers, and mathematicians.

This edWebinar will be of interest to PreK-3 teachers, librarians, school leaders, and district leaders.

This edWebinar is part of the 2026 Sadlier Phonics Institute.
