Writing skills are an essential yet often-overlooked part of literacy that support success in all other areas of a student’s development. In this edWebinar, Barbara Friedlander, co-author of Powerful Writing Strategies for All Students, draws on more than 30 years of teaching experience to provide an overview of the six steps of Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD), with a focus on the transformative power of integrating think-alouds with self-statements in writing instruction.
This scientifically validated framework for explicit writing instruction helps students develop both academic skills and self-regulation strategies. Six steps guide them through every stage of the writing process and reinforce new skills with group work and individual practice. Backed by two decades of research, SRSD helps transform students into confident, skilled, reflective writers.
PreK-5 teachers and administrators are invited to view this recorded edWebinar to see SRSD in action and walk away with valuable instructional strategies as well as writing and think-aloud resources.
