About the Presenter
Cathy Yount’s passion has always been early childhood education with a focus on literacy, which led her to a 22-year career in public and private schools in Hillsborough County, FL. After years as a preK teacher, Cathy then served as an instructional coach and new teacher trainer for the sixth largest district in the United States, where she supported an early childhood school district partnership. She has authored early literacy curricula and has served on state education committees building early learning standards and guiding state adoption processes. Cathy has worked closely with foundations and coalitions and with National Head Start to provide training in the areas of oral language and vocabulary development. Cathy is a national presenter at NAEYC and state AEYC conferences. As Director of Early Learning at Scholastic, Cathy is guiding the development of future programs and works closely with Head Starts and school districts in crafting solutions that contribute to the development of our earliest learners.
