Karen Mapp

About the Presenters

Karen L. Mapp, Ed.D. is a Senior Lecturer on Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, creator of the Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Family-School Partnerships, and co-author of Powerful Partnerships: A Teacher’s Guide to Engaging Families for Student Success. Dr. Mapp is a leading family and community engagement expert whose research practice over the past 25 years has been devoted to cultivating partnerships among schools, families, and communities to enhance student achievement and school performance.

Anne Henderson

Anne T. Henderson is a founder of and Senior Consultant for the National Association for Family, School, and Community Engagement (NAFSCE). Her specialty involves the relationship between families and schools and its impact on students’ success in school and life. Since 1981, she has tracked research and effective practice on how engaging families can improve student achievement, especially in diverse and low-income communities. Anne has written, by herself and with others, many reader-friendly articles, reports, handouts, and books.

Jenni Brasington

Jenni Brasington is the National Director of Family Engagement for Scholastic Education and a founding partner of the Center for Active Family Engagement (Café). She has more than 25 years of experience working with PK–12 schools as an administrator, early childhood coordinator, and school counselor. Jenni holds a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and a Master of Education degree in school counseling. She has focused her work over the last 20 years on assisting educators in the U.S. and Australia in engaging with families in ways that support learning and increase student outcomes. She is the author of the Family Friendly Walk-Through and the co-author of the Family Engagement Assessment, a tool that measures a school’s capacity for developing effective partnerships with families.
