edWeb.net announces the release of its annual 2019 Teacher Professional Learning Survey. edWeb has been conducting research on educators’ use of edWeb and its impact on professional learning for a number of years to track trends in professional learning and looking for ways to continuously improve.

The survey results show consistency over time in the top reasons why teachers engage in professional learning: to help improve their own teaching, to learn new ideas and practices from peers and experts in their field, and to improve learning for their students. New to the survey in 2019 was a question on how edWeb impacts students’ learning with 57% of teachers reporting that edWeb has a high impact on their students’ learning.

Teacher respondents rated webinars as the top professional development activity that helps them improve their practice as an educator, and said that the flexibility to participate anytime, anywhere was the most important quality in a teacher professional development program. The results also show that educators are continuing to get credit for attending and viewing edWebinars – 29% are getting state approval and 44% are getting approval from their school or district.

The 2019 survey was sent to 97,580 educators who are edWeb members and received 1,733 responses, a 1.78% response rate, and a 48% increase over last year’s survey.
