Discover ways to boost students’ reading growth and make up for lost learning time, whether you teach virtually or in the classroom. In this edWebinar, phonics expert Wiley Blevins and literacy author Patty McGee shares principles and practices for increasing student achievement through high-impact lessons, supportive instructional language, and culturally responsive texts for K-6.
This research-based recorded edWebinar will help you gain expertise and confidence in improving reading skills online or in the classroom, by building social-emotional connections and using them as the lever for effective instruction and meaningful practice. You’ll learn how to:
- Quickly assess students to determine their current learning needs and then provide targeted teaching
- Link phonics and comprehension instruction to decodable texts and trade books, whether printed or online
- Develop effective written responses to text that increase understanding and improve expressive language
- Scaffold independent practice that leads to effective transfer and application of skills
This recorded edWebinar will emphasize tools and techniques for virtual teaching—and include candid sharing about what does and doesn’t work—so it will be of interest to literacy and curriculum directors, instructional coaches, principals, reading specialists, and K-6 teachers.
