About the Presenters
Noemi Gonzales is in her 12th year working as an educator for Northside ISD in San Antonio. After working as a bilingual and dual language teacher for second and third grades at her camps, she became the school’s math specialist. Noemi is currently working on her Ed.D. in organizational leadership with an emphasis in K-12 education.
Armed with a degree in mathematics and early success as a rock musician with hit songs in Europe and the U.S., Nigel Nisbet began his education career by teaching a class of 15 at a private all-girls school in rural England. After moving to the U.S., Nigel taught mathematics, where he pioneered integrating technology into the classroom and utilizing project-based learning to engage students’ critical-thinking skills. Leaving the classroom in 2006, he became a Mathematics Specialist for the Los Angeles Unified School District, the second-largest school district in the United States. Nigel joined the nonprofit MIND Research Institute as Senior Mathematics Specialist in the spring of 2010, eventually becoming the Vice President of Content Creation. Nigel received a Bachelor of Science in mathematics at Queen Mary University, University of London, in 1990. In 2009, Nigel received a master’s in educational administration at California State University, Northridge.
