If you attended the live session, you’ll be emailed a CE certificate within 24 hours of the edWebinar. If you view the recording and would like a CE certificate, join the Building Understanding in Mathematics community and go to the edWebinar Archives folder to take the CE quiz.

This webinar is part three of a three-part series entitled Extending Place Value Understanding from Smaller to Larger Numbers. The series covers research-informed strategies for supporting upper elementary students as they extend their thinking from numbers up to 1000 (which can be more easily modeled) to larger numbers, which are less readily modeled and more abstract to understand.

In this presentation, Dr. Sara Delano Moore explores how arrays can be used to support students’ developing understanding of multiplication and division with larger numbers. Join us to examine the progression from arrays of concrete objects for operations on smaller numbers to more abstract open arrays working with larger numbers.

Math educators, especially those teaching grades three through five, are invited to this webinar as well as math coordinators, math instructional leaders, math supervisors, and elementary school principals.

This edWebinar is part of the Extending Place Value Understanding from Smaller to Larger Numbers Series:
Organizing Place Value Tools in a Developmental Progression
Making Learning Visible through Discourse
Mastering Multiplication and Division Using Array Models
