In this edWebinar, PreK–12 educators and administrators will explore three types of powerful vocabulary talk moves that can be used across the school day to strengthen students’ word knowledge:
- Moves that build deep understanding of word meanings
- Moves that spark curiosity and interest in words
- Moves that develop students’ awareness of words
Attendees will explore how these practical talk moves can be integrated into daily instruction and classroom interactions across grade levels and content areas, strengthening vocabulary development without requiring new programs or materials. This edWebinar will be of interest to PreK–12 teachers, school leaders, and district leaders.

About the Presenter
Dr. Blythe Anderson is an Assistant Professor of Literacy Education in the Department of Learning and Instruction in the Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Anderson earned her Ph.D. in curriculum, instruction, and teacher education from Michigan State University, with a specialization in language and literacy education. A former first-grade teacher and district literacy coordinator, her research investigates instructional practices that promote the development of vocabulary knowledge and foundational skills for beginning readers and those experiencing reading difficulties.
