One of our main goals as teachers is to help students grow knowledge and understanding of the past, present, and future world around them. Some of the best tools we have to achieve this goal are texts, intentional conversations, and writing. Join us in this session as we explore frameworks and guiding questions for building text sets for interactive read-aloud that elevate student knowledge, understanding, and critical thinking.

- Selecting and analyzing texts around a connecting idea, central theme, or area of study
- Layering texts in a set to grow knowledge and understanding
- Planning thinking, talking, and writing opportunities with individual texts and across a text set

About the Presenter
Chrisie Moritz is a National Board Certified Educational Consultant based out of Vienna, Virginia. She has over 20 years of experience in public education in Virginia and North Carolina. Throughout her career, she has worked as a literacy coach, district trainer of literacy coaches, and intervention teacher. In addition to teaching at the elementary school level, Chrisie has served as an adjunct faculty member at George Mason University and East Carolina University and co-authored the book Powerful Book Introductions: Leading with Meaning for Deeper Thinking.
