When Dr. Schauna Relue began her new position as Director of Curriculum & Instruction for the Metropolitan School District of Steuben County a year and a half ago, it was obvious by looking at the data that students’ reading development had been severely impacted and that swift action was necessary to begin to catch students up. Watch this edWebinar to learn about the steps that she took to reshape reading instruction in the district. View this to:

  • Understand the state of reading in our schools and what the science of reading leads us to do
  • Understand why reading problems persist
  • Learn how to carve out time to deliver training and generate a schoolwide response to the reading crisis being faced by our students whose education has been disrupted and negatively impacted
  • Learn about the unique approach they took to teaching reading that allows students to quickly crack the code and have access to independently read grade-level content while still being taught to read at their instructional level
  • Understand the process they used to get gains of one to three years in a matter of months

This recorded edWebinar is of interest to PreK-8 teachers, school and district leaders, and special education directors, coordinators, and teachers.
