Boost Literacy with Inquiry-Based Vocabulary Instruction

Presented by Dr. Leslie Maniotes, Education Consultant and Professional Development Coach
Sponsored by Britannica Digital Learning

Watch the Recording

Supersize the literacy arsenal of any K-12 student by mastering the art of “keyword lessons.”

In this edWebinar, Dr. Leslie Maniotes, through her Guided Inquiry Design® (GID) method, discusses literacy skills and show how to unlock the power of curiosity in all learners.

The earlier students learn to break down the lingo of any discipline, the quicker they gain the ability to internalize the heart of whatever subject they explore. Learn how to apply GID to reading comprehension by teaching “domain-specific” vocabulary that blasts past general knowledge and into content-area expertise, creating lifelong literacy and independent research pros.

Viewers will walk away with:

  • A strategy to develop rich, content-specific vocab lessons through GID
  • Domain-specific vocabulary approaches that move students towards content-area expertise
  • Three CCSS-aligned sample lesson plans for K-12 classrooms
  • Teacher and librarian collaboration opportunities that support powerful student outcomes

Kindergarten through high school teachers, librarians, and school and district leaders will benefit from watching this recorded session.
