About the Presenters

With over a decade of educational experience, Shannon C. Shelton has a knack for making meaningful connections with various stakeholders and an insatiable appetite for empowering students to unleash and maximize their untapped potential. Shannon is on a mission to transform education through college-and-career-readiness structures. Over time, her role evolved from serving as a K-12 grade-level teacher, educational advisor, lead college and career coordinator, assistant principal, and principal. Currently, Shannon passionately serves as Director for Work-Based Learning in the North Kansas City School District. Her primary role is to build district-level systems of support in maintaining business and community pathway partners by using work-based learning experiences to shed light on the invaluable talent that students bring to organizations. She firmly believes that this will positively impact classroom learning, increase community involvement, and provide solutions to the demands of our ever-changing workforce.

Kelly Cooper

Kelly Cooper, a resident of Statesville, North Carolina, brings a distinctive blend of corporate expertise and educational leadership to her role as the Chief Secondary Academic Officer for Iredell-Statesville Schools. With a solid foundation in funds management gained at Bank One in WV, Ms. Cooper seamlessly transitioned to the field of education, leveraging her corporate background to make classroom instruction relevant and engaging for students.

Throughout her career in education, Ms. Cooper has excelled in various capacities, demonstrating her effectiveness as a Business Education teacher, assistant principal, principal, and several district-level roles. Her commitment to bridging core content instruction with Career and Technical Education is a genuine passion that she has translated into tangible initiatives.

In her journey from the realm of corporate finance to educational leadership, Ms. Cooper remains committed to providing a Rigorous, Relevant, and Engaging education for ALL students.
