This edLeader Panel aims to arm district administrators with actionable insights to lead their teams in harnessing the potential of AI within digital learning solutions, ensuring that personalized learning remains unbiased and effective.

The panelists will address the pressing challenge of identifying and mitigating biases that may be embedded in AI algorithms and how education leaders can help ensure that digital learning solutions serve to support equitable educational outcomes. They will also share strategies for demystifying AI for teaching staff, alleviating apprehension, and championing the adoption of these tools as a means to augment—not replace—their instructional impact.

Alana Winnick

About the Presenters

Alana Winnick is the Educational Technology Director and Data Protection Officer for Pocantico Hills Central School District in Sleepy Hollow, NY, as well as the Hudson Valley Director for The New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education (NYSCATE). Alana hosts The Generative Age, a live web show and podcast powered by NYSCATE that explores the rapidly evolving world of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on education. She is also the author of The Generative Age: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Education, recently released in 2023.

Ken Shelton

Ken Shelton is an international speaker and consultant at Elevate Education who specializes in leveraging instructional technology to effectively engage students and raise student achievement. Ken has worked extensively at the policy level with a number of state departments of education, ministries of education, and non-profits, and was appointed to the Education Technology Task Force formed by a previous California state superintendent of public instruction. An Apple Distinguished Educator, Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, and a Google Certified Innovator, Ken is the 2022 Making IT Happen Award winner and the 2024 CUE Platinum Disk Award Recipient.

Diana Hughes, VP of Product Innovation and AI at Age of Learning, is an experienced practitioner of game design and personalized learning. With three patents in personalized learning technologies to her name, Diana helps drive the company’s vision for AI-powered solutions, placing a strong emphasis on enhancing accessibility and engagement in early education. Her innovative strategies involve a unique blend of learning science insights with digital technology and AI, helping position the company at the forefront of creating more interactive and personalized educational programs.
