Too often, students forget what they have learned just weeks after instruction, leaving teachers stuck in a cycle of reteaching and intervention. What if you could break that cycle by strengthening retention within your core instruction?
In this edWebinar, we will explore how spiral review, grounded in the learning science principles of spacing, interleaving, and retrieval practice, helps students revisit and retain key concepts over time. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of how these three components work individually and how they work together to build lasting mastery. We will bring these ideas to life with practical, classroom-ready examples, including how spiral review can be implemented in warm-ups, exit tickets, WIN time, homework, and more. These strategies are designed to fit into existing instructional time without adding more to teachers’ plates.
Learning Objectives:
- Define spiral review and its three core components: spacing, interleaving, and retrieval
- Understand how these strategies work together to strengthen retention and reduce forgetting
- Identify simple, sustainable ways to embed spiral review into daily instruction
- Explore how schools and districts can support consistent implementation at scale
Key Takeaways:
- Reduce the need for reteaching and Tier 2 intervention
- Strengthen Tier 1 instruction and improve long-term student outcomes
- Gain actionable strategies that can be implemented immediately
Whether you are a K-8 classroom teacher, instructional coach, or district leader, this edWebinar will help you rethink how learning sticks and how to close gaps before they grow.
