Questioning to Support Formative Assessment

CCSS MathFormative assessment is a powerful tool for improving teaching and increasing student learning.  edWeb.net community, Implementing Common Core Standards in Math, is holding a four-part Formative Assessment Webinar Series that explores strategies for strengthening the role of formative assessment in mathematics instruction.  In the second interactive session, Dr. Sara Delano Moore, Director of Mathematics and Science at ETA hand2mind, focused on questioning techniques which support visible student thinking and provide quality information for teachers.  Webinar attendees learned strategies for crafting important questions and incorporating them into their teaching.  Watch the webinar recording to learn questioning techniques which move student learning forward.
