As the field of social-emotional learning (SEL) continues to evolve and grow, watch this edWebinar where presenters dive into what takes place behind the scenes of the learning process for students and adults. They explore the “why” and “how” behind SEL, uncovering its role in our brains’ development and what neuroscience can teach us about the value of this work. Viewers also gain a deeper understanding of what this looks like in practice, as the presenters uncover strong SEL practices that can be applied and implemented in daily routines.

This recorded edWebinar is of interest to PreK-12 teachers and school and district leaders.

Sara MiduraAbout the Presenters

Sara Midura is a current Engagement Behavior Specialist for Northwest Education Services in Traverse City, MI. Prior to this role, she taught middle school students at Creekside School in Traverse City, a center-based program for students labeled with emotional impairment. She was also an Educational Liaison/Teacher for the Adolescent Psychiatry Unit at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN, where she helped in creating a guide for transitioning students from hospitalization to school. Sara is passionate about utilizing the knowledge of neuroscience and psychology in order to support the highest needs students with trauma and difficulty regulating their emotions. She has a certification in Applied Educational Neuroscience, studying under Dr. Lori Desautels at Butler University, as well as a master’s in effective teaching and education also from her alma mater of Butler University. Sara loves the beach, the outdoors, and connecting with others that are passionate about mental health!

Renee KolleRenee Kolle chose education because working with kids is an amazing experience, helping them learn and grow. They make her laugh every day, and they inspire her to continue to see the world through their eyes. Seeing a child’s eyes light up when they learn something new, have an idea, or grasp a new concept, is incredibly rewarding to Renee. She attended Eastern Michigan University for her undergrad and Grand Valley State University for her master’s degree.
