Student Game Jams
Thursday, January 7, 2016 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EST
Presented by Matthew Farber, social studies teacher and educational technology adjunct; with Steve Isaacs, teacher and game design and development
Co-hosted by Games4Ed, ISTE GSN, ISTE VEN, and the Education Technology Industry Network of SIIA
Game jams have been growing in popularity across school campuses and in out-of-school programs. In October 2014, the White House hosted its first game jam, inviting designers from around the country. A game jam tasks designers with creating games in a short time period based on a challenge or a theme. In essence, it is a game about making a game.
In this webinar, Matthew Farber shared his experiences using tabletop game jams in his middle school social studies classes as well as his digital game jams in the after-school club he advises. He was joined by Steve Isaacs, who spoke about his use of game jams in his middle school video game design class. Steve and Matthew also discussed the game jam project that the Games4Ed Initiative is currently developing. Watch to learn how you can bring game jams to your school.
This webinar is geared toward K-12 teachers and game developers who are interested in mentoring for game jams.
