Summit Public Schools, a California-based charter school network, believes that personalized learning empowers teachers and helps students build the skills they need to succeed in college, career, and life. That’s why Summit is proud to share what they’ve learned in their own experience through the Summit Learning program, whose community now includes more than 100 schools, 1,100 teachers, and 20,000 students all across the country.
Summit has set out to replicate its success, not by opening more Summit schools, but by offering other schools free tools, training, and support to transform themselves. The centerpiece of Summit’s franchising effort is their Personalized Learning Platform, or PLP, a free, open-source learning management system that boasts a full curriculum for grades 6 through 12, including projects, online learning resources, and tests.
In this webinar, Lizzie Choi, Chief Program Officer of Summit Learning, and a principal/educator of a school participating in the program, discusses the journey of developing Summit Learning. She covers what it looks like, and why each of its components (authentic projects, competency-based progression, and mentoring) are essential to empowering students to be self-directed learners and gaining the skills, knowledge, and habits to succeed. Learn how one Summit Learning school utilized the resources offered through the Summit Learning program, including an online platform, professional development, and ongoing support to implement personalized learning.
This recorded webinar will provide a deep understanding of the “what,” “why,” and “how” of personalized learning and actionable strategies for instruction and implementation. Viewers will leave the webinar with concrete next steps of bringing personalized learning to students. This webinar will benefit educators and school administrators interested in tangible and proven tools, resources, support, and partnerships to advance personalized learning in middle and high schools.
