The surge in artificial intelligence (AI) in nearly every facet of everyday life is undeniable—and our students are not immune to its lure. As educators, we need to consider the opportunities and challenges it presents for mathematics education. As we contemplate AI, we also need to ask: How can we focus on what makes learning deeply human?
Watch this edWebinar with Dr. Jennifer Suh, Professor of Mathematics Education at George Mason University and Director of the Center for Outreach in Mathematics Professional Learning and Educational Technology (COMPLETE), as she explores how classrooms can nurture students’ curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and critical math fluency through engaging data science, mathematical modeling, and problem-solving tasks.
Through inspiring classroom examples, discover practical strategies and helpful tips to engage students in:
- Asking meaningful math questions
- Making sense of data
- Using math modeling to make decisions
- Collaborating with others
Dr. Suh also invites viewers to consider how AI can become a powerful partner that sparks inquiry, supports productive struggle, and helps students develop deeper understanding while engaged in these tasks. Together, we reimagine mathematics learning as a joyful process of exploring, reasoning, and making sense of the world!
All educators interested in K-12 math (especially classroom educators, curriculum directors, instructional leaders, and school and district administrators) are encouraged to view this edWebinar.
