In this edWebinar, respected mathematics expert Dr. John Woodward draws upon six key recommendations from the recent Institute of Education Sciences’ (IES) synthesis of research, Assisting Students Struggling with Mathematics: Intervention in the Elementary Grades (2021).

Dr. Woodward explores the recommendations and their strong level of support based on high-quality studies in the fields of remedial and special education. Rather than detail each recommendation in isolation, this session shows how many of the recommendations work in concert. Dr. Woodward draws on a variety of core mathematical tasks to illustrate how educators can apply the recommendations.

Join us and learn:

  • How the IES guide can be helpful to all teachers, including those new to the profession and crossover teachers
  • The need for students to possess the skills outlined in the IES guide to be prepared for technical jobs, as manufacturing makes a resurgence in this country
  • Efficient ways educators can combine the recommendations for effective teaching and learning

This timely and applicable edWebinar is designed for any elementary or middle school educator tasked with helping struggling math students overcome challenges and gain a deeper understanding, ultimately leading to success.
