Problem-based math lessons can be a powerful technique for building students’ conceptual understanding and application of mathematical ideas. In this edWebinar, math specialist Graham Fletcher explores the structure of three-act math tasks and share how these tasks can be used to identify what students know and where their thinking lies within a progression of learning.

During the edWebinar, Graham models working through a task and identify purposeful moves that can take place throughout a lesson to deepen critical understanding and help students make sense of math concepts. Viewers learn how to:

  • Grow students’ math skills with an engaging, hands-on approach
  • Implement three-act math tasks in the classroom
  • Leverage rich tasks to drive student learning and build their problem-solving skills
  • Use problem-based lessons as a formative assessment tool

All educators with an interest in mathematics—especially K-8 classroom teachers, coaches, instructional leaders, and curriculum directors—are encouraged to view this recorded edWebinar.
