Research indicates that ALL students benefit from using decodable books as they apply connected phonics and word-study skills to become more confident readers. High-quality multicriteria decodable texts have also been shown to have varied vocabulary and help build comprehension skills.

During this interactive edWebinar, educators and other stakeholders who support students in kindergarten through third grade explore the role of multicriteria decodable texts on the pathway to reading proficiency, analyze the elements of quality decodable texts, and gain instructional strategies to support the acquisition of phonics and word-study skills through meaningful practice. By the end of this session, viewers are able to:

  • Define and evaluate the elements of quality decodable texts
  • Explore the relationship between multicriteria decodable books and reading proficiency
  • Support student acquisition and practice of phonics and word-study skills through the use of multicriteria decodable texts

This recorded edWebinar is of interest to K-3 teachers and school leaders.
