How many times have you heard the question from your students, “Why do I have to read this?” Students need to see themselves in the text and not see the text as an assignment. Help students see the relevancy of the texts to their lives through essential questions that resonate like, “When you see injustice, do you stand by or stand up?” or, “What are the benefits and challenges of living in a diverse society?”
The literature we teach students is the vehicle through which these questions are explored. It helps them see themselves in the world and make connections to their place in it. Watch as we explore how to engage students in novel study and make connections to those relevant essential questions.
This recorded edWebinar is of interest to teachers and school and district leaders of the middle and high school grades.
