At the heart of every Individualized Education Plan (IEP) are educators working hard to provide the instruction, intervention, and support a student needs to thrive in school. Documentation and compliance matter, but they can’t come at the expense of the instruction and intervention that drive student outcomes. Finding the right balance between the two is one of the biggest challenges special education leaders face.

About the Presenter
Pamela Ardis Wimbish is an accomplished educational leader with more than 25 years of experience in special education, speech-language pathology, and educational administration. She currently serves as the Director of Special Education for Birmingham City Schools, where she oversees districtwide special education programming, compliance, instructional services, and strategic initiatives designed to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. Throughout her career, Pamela has served as a special education teacher, speech-language pathologist, program specialist, and district administrator.
She has extensive expertise in IDEA compliance, instructional leadership, early childhood special education, professional development, behavior intervention, and educational program improvement. Pamela holds bachelor’s, master’s, and educational specialist degrees from Alabama A&M University and Jacksonville State University and is currently a doctoral candidate (Ed.D.) in educational leadership at the University of Alabama. Pamela is passionate about building high-quality educational systems that empower educators and ensure every student has access to meaningful learning opportunities.

Evan Spellman is a seasoned customer success edtech professional with a master’s degree in education and over a decade of experience spanning K-12 and higher ed classroom teaching, instructional coaching, and district-level consulting. He is skilled in facilitating strategic planning conversations with education leaders, helping them bridge vision with practical implementation.
