Educators are often reminded about the importance of culturally responsive teaching (CRT). What is it? Why is it important? How can we apply it to support our learners?

Culturally responsive teaching (CRT) consists of instructional practices that recognize, honor, and leverage cultural diversity in educational settings, with the goal of ensuring the academic success of all students. Students often differ from each other, and from their teachers, in cultural background. Successful instruction depends on sensitivity to these differences as well as the ability to draw on them in the creation of supportive educational environments for all students.

Watch Dr. Ken Springer for this edWebinar about CRT and how to apply it in your teaching. The edWebinar focuses on CRT with students of all ages in different educational settings, including ELL/EFL students. The first part of the presentation introduces a definition of CRT. The second part reviews the kinds of questions culturally responsive teachers should be asking. The third part covers some of the principles and specific practices of CRT.

This recorded presentation will be of interest to preK-12 educators.
