Early childhood professionals know that getting children excited about science is only part of the challenge. Today’s young learners need more than excitement and motivation – they need opportunities to actually DO more science on a daily basis. Steve Spangler shares his creative ideas and strategies to teach hands-on science through the medium of children’s literature. Viewers will learn how to use elements of the storyline to enable students to think more like scientists. You’ll be ready to create a collection of STEM experiences your children will never forget.

This recorded edWebinar will be of interest to preK through elementary teachers, librarians, and school and district leaders.

Steve SpanglerAbout the Presenter

Steve Spangler is a STEM advocate, bestselling author, and television host. An Ellen Show regular and two-time Emmy Award-winning science educator, Spangler has been a popular presenter at early childhood conferences for the last 20 years. Steve is a frequent speaker at SPLASH and always finds a way to turn the stage into his personal laboratory. He’s the host of the nationally syndicated television series DIY Sci where viewers learn how to use do-it-yourself experiments to amaze friends. Steve’s science videos on YouTube have more than 380 million views with 1.2 million subscribers to his channels, and his books and online experiments are widely used by parents and educators to inspire young scientists to learn more about STEM-based careers.

Stephen FiteAbout the Host

Stephen Fite is an award-winning musician/writer for children, whose albums have received 18 nationally recognized honors. Suitable for the classroom, car or living room, his upbeat brand of children’s music has been delighting students, teachers, and parents around the nation for more than three decades. He realized his love for music at a very young age while listening to Beatles LP’s at his aunt’s house shortly after the British Band Invasion of the ’60s. As a result, he shares that same passion for song with teachers and children through his writing, recording, and performance. Since the mid-80s, Stephen has performed concerts for over 800,000 children, as well as keynotes and workshops for educators throughout the United States.
