How can teachers be expected to personalize learning for students when their own learning is delivered in a one-size-fits-all model? In this webinar, Kate Bean, Executive Director of Aveson Charter Schools, challenges the way educators learn and provides a basis for developing Personalized Mastery Learning (PML) experiences that will transform educators’ views about their own learning, motivating them to experience Personalized Mastery Learning for themselves and be prepared to offer it to their students.
Kate will explore:
• Mindset and processes required to shift classrooms, schools and teacher training for a more personalized learning experience for all
• A discussion of one school’s journey around Personalized Mastery Learning for students and personalized professional development for educators
• Components of personalized professional development, including individualized goals and development plans
There will be time for Kate to answer your questions after her presentation. All K-12 administrators and educators are invited to attend this live, interactive session.
About the Presenter
Kate Bean is Executive Director of Aveson Charter Schools located in Altadena, CA, one of a few U.S. public schools focused on Personalized Mastery Learning for grades K-12. Kate started her education career as a teacher with Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Following her seven year tenure at LAUSD, she joined Co-nect, a federally approved educational consulting firm focused on helping school districts implement new project-based and technology models under the Comprehensive School Reform Grants program. After working at the national level with Co-nect, Kate turned her attention to California schools exclusively. There, she focused on school administration and teacher development that supported No Child Left Behind (NCLB). It was through this experience with NCLB that Kate met her team of educational professionals that would later join her to establish Aveson Charter Schools and introduce a new Personalized Mastery Learning and teaching model to public education.
