Jennifer Smith

About the Presenters

Jennifer Smith serves as a 6-12 Social Studies Coordinator and Middle School Instructional Coach for Blue Valley Schools in Overland Park, KS. A National Board Certified Teacher in Social Studies-History, she also holds a master’s degree in elementary education. With more than 30 years in public education, 22 teaching middle-level learners, Jennifer is deeply committed to partnering with educators to design student-centered, rigorous learning experiences. She is especially passionate about ensuring all students encounter both mirrors of their own lived experiences and windows into the experiences of others. Beyond her professional work, Jennifer enjoys reading, traveling, and cheering on the KC Current and Kansas City Royals.

Maureen Scanlan

Dr. Maureen Scanlan serves as the Coordinator of Instructional Projects for Seminole County Public Schools in Sanford, Florida. With 28 years of experience in education, Dr. Scanlan brings a robust background in English language arts, school leadership, and curriculum and instruction. She currently oversees the adoption and implementation of high-quality instructional materials across 70 schools in one of Florida’s largest districts.

A passionate advocate for equity in education, Dr. Scanlan is dedicated to ensuring that all students and teachers have access to rigorous, standards-aligned core instructional materials and library media resources. Her work supports a broad range of academic initiatives, including Florida’s state academic standards, College Board Course and Exam Descriptions (CED), Advanced Placement (AP) programs, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways. 

Deanna Morrow

Deanna Morrow is an experienced TCI Senior National Account Manager, recognized for her passion for education. With 18 years at TCI, she excels at drawing on her in-depth knowledge of the company’s products and philosophies. She spent 15 years as a classroom teacher and earned multiple professional awards. While in the classroom, Deanna was a TCI National Trainer and played a vital role in the creation of Geography Alive, revolutionizing geography education nationwide. Beyond work, Deanna embraces travel, literature, pickleball, and gardening. Her unwavering dedication to education embodies TCI’s mission of transforming social studies instruction and empowering educators and students.
