In this edWebinar, Dr. Will Blake, Founder of the Meducos Health Institute, and Shantell Berrett Blake, Director of Training for Reading Horizons, will present strategies for building stress resilience to improve teacher health and wellness. The stress associated with the current educational challenges has not only impacted teachers’ wellness, but also has negatively influenced instructional efficacy and student achievement. Their focus will be practical, evidence-based methods that can be easily implemented in and out of the classroom. Incorporating these tactics will help teachers improve their personal resilience and decrease the threat of burnout.
They will also share how to use these techniques in the classroom with students as well. The results of such implementation will be happier, healthier, less-stressed teachers as well as improved student wellness and outcomes. This edWebinar will be of interest to kindergarten through middle school teachers, school and district leaders, special education teachers and school and district leaders, professional development leaders, curriculum leaders, equity, inclusion, and diversity leaders, school improvement leaders, and Title I and federal funding directors. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
About the Presenters
After 15 years of clinical practice, Dr. Will Blake served as the CEO of a national medical management company in order to help other physicians with the growing demands of managing their private offices. Upon becoming frustrated with a healthcare system that focused on sickness rather than health, he founded the Meducos Health Institute where he promotes using lifestyle as the best way to achieve health. He now specializes in combining physical, mental, emotional, and social health to help others live a balanced and truly healthy life.
Shantell Berrett Blake is currently the director of training and presenting at Reading Horizons. She holds a master’s in the science of reading with dyslexia certification. Shantell is the mother of a child with dyslexia and dysgraphia, which was the catalyst for her professional path. She believes in support for the whole individual, addressing not only the learning difficulties but the social and emotional needs as well. She earned her Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Practitioner certificate in 2020 to help better address the emotional challenges faced by individuals with language-processing difficulties. She is passionate about literacy and the overall growth and development of the individual.
