Watch this edWebinar to get to know amazing picture books, learn engaging questioning strategies for students, and consider talking points for professionals—all aimed at building students’ social-emotional strength. Access a handout with classroom-ready resources to support social-emotional learning.

In this edWebinar, viewers will gain a better understanding of CASEL focus areas that impact personal strength: Managing feelings, a positive view of self, developing self-confidence, controlling impulsive behaviors, setting goals, and skill in communicating. This will include reflection on questions for professionals in each area, an introduction to noteworthy picture books aligned to the focus areas, and application of a student-friendly questioning strategy for starting SEL conversations.

By the conclusion of the edWebinar, viewers will:

  • Be able to use picture books aligned to the six designated focus areas to introduce issues related to social-emotional strength and start conversations with students on key themes.
  • Be able to develop standards-based questions at all Depths of Knowledge that connect picture books to CASEL focus areas.
  • Be prepared to engage with colleagues to reflect together on questions related to the impact of SEL on students.

This edWebinar will be of interest to preK through high school teachers, librarians, and school leaders.
