Mental health support is critical for students’ overall well-being and academic success. Yet, many K-12 schools struggle to provide comprehensive resources due to budget constraints. About the Presenters
Tyrrell Jeffries (he/his/him) is a father, dedicated servant leader, advocate, and educator. Born and raised in Aurora, IL and a native of Chicago, Tyrrell joins the Active Minds team with over a decade of experience as an educator and community organizer. During his undergraduate career at Augustana College, Tyrrell served as the Director of Student Leadership Development and gained a fond appreciation for developing young adults and youth.
Upon graduating, Tyrrell moved to the South Side of Chicago and began his teaching career at CICS Washington Park. During his tenure, Tyrrell served as a teacher, Instructional Lead, Dean of Students, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and Elementary and Middle School Principal. Tyrrell completed graduate studies at Dominican University and is an alumnus of the Relay Graduate School of Education National Principal Academy. Tyrrell loves to travel with his son and create lifelong memories through random surprises and adventures.
Sheina Koolik (she/her) is currently the Program Associate, K-12 Engagement at Active Minds. A graduate of the University of Central Florida, Sheina’s passion for advocacy and mobilization of her community soared when she was the Chief Justice of the UCF Student Government. Since graduating, Sheina has been involved with organizations focused on uplifting and empowering communities through education and other programming. She is a proud youth development professional and finds excitement in content and curriculum development. She was born and raised in South Florida, but now calls Orlando home.
Ashley Hill is a human development professional with 15 years of building competencies in adults, youth, and organizational processes. Her expertise lies in orchestrating psychologically safe learning spaces by building cultural competencies and gender-responsive practice that lead to the examination of biases stemming from supremacy culture. She is a joyful trainer of youth and adults in social-emotional content, including sexual and behavioral health. She is a people- and relationship-first leader with a penchant for calling out systems, processes, and people that harm historically and purposely marginalized people.
