During this edWebinar, we’ll unpack how the powerful intervention approach of identifying where math stopped making sense for our students and building upon what our students already know can accelerate their math learning.
As students return to learning, the need to accelerate learning for all students will be critical. Accelerating learning is not speeding through lessons to cover everything students didn’t learn in previous grades. Rather, it is an approach to teaching and learning that focuses on understanding where math stopped making sense for students and building upon that understanding to move students to grade-level proficiency.
Accelerating learning for all calls for the relationships between numbers and concepts to be made visible to students and learning pathways that include just-in-time scaffolding and appropriate data-driven differentiation. Research has shown time and time again that if you can get students to think critically about their own mathematical thinking, there is an opportunity to grow. All of our students can take off—some just need a longer runway in order to accelerate their learning.
