Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and TeachRock Founder Stevie Van Zandt joins seasoned educator Mike Zagari and skilled curriculum developer Gina Machado to discuss starting the school year on a high note by empowering students with skills for academic and personal success.

In this inspiring edWebinar, viewers learn practical techniques for creating a collaborative classroom environment and encouraging students to embrace creativity and innovation. Stevie Van Zandt is a musician, performer, songwriter, arranger, music producer, music supervisor, TV producer, actor, director, Broadway producer, TV and film composer, live event producer, international DJ, activist, historian, teacher, member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and recognized internationally as one of the world’s foremost authorities on both Contemporary and Traditional Rock and Roll.

Michael Zagari

Michael Zagari serves as a social studies teacher at Garden City High School located in Garden City, New York. He teaches Advanced Placement (A.P.) United States History, Regents United States History, and an elective course called Soundtracks: American History Through the Lens of Music. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and an MSEd in social studies education. Beyond his teaching responsibilities, Mike coaches football and lacrosse at Garden City Middle School. Outside of the classroom, he enjoys quality time with his wife and three kids, as well as playing the drums in a band. Additionally, he has a strong passion for collecting vinyl records and keeping up with his native garden.

Gina Machado is the Director of Programs and Partnerships at TeachRock. Beginning her career as a classroom teacher in The Bronx, New York, she now designs arts-integrated education materials for TeachRock and leads professional development sessions across the United States, working alongside teachers to implement the TeachRock curriculum. An educator at heart, Gina’s true passion lies in creating new and innovative ways to reach students of all levels, always aiming to foster the student-teacher relationship.
