Rachel PowellAbout the Presenters
Rachel Powell began her career as a classroom teacher. After a great deal of learning as a classroom teacher, she decided to expand her classroom experience. Rachel began her work as a site coach, and later as a district coach in curriculum and instruction. This position afforded her the opportunity to make broader system-wide changes, eventually moving into the position of Manager of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction at San José Unified School District in 2014. For the last four years, her amazing team has focused on systematizing instructional practices in literacy, mathematics, and special education, using various data points to drive decision making.

Sandra Velasquez
Sandra Velásquez is currently working in her third year as the Pre-K-5 District Instructional Technology Coach for San José Unified School District. Her areas of focus are technology integration and early literacy. As a district coach, she provides professional development and coaching around best instructional practices in a technology-rich environment. Currently, Sandra is pursuing her M.A. in educational leadership through technology at San Diego State University where she is further developing her passion to advocate for change and contribute to the improvement of professional learning that focuses on student achievement.

Kelly Urlacher started her education career as a teacher in 2002. She has her national boards and masters in technology and curriculum development. Kelly taught sixth grade for ten years and has a passion for math. She jokes that she loved to “infect” her students with the love of math. Kelly is now a senior curriculum designer for DreamBox Learning, where she has the opportunity to create lessons, develop technology-based teacher partnerships, and influence the way students learn math.
