In this webinar, Andrew Marcinek, former Chief Open Education Advisor for the U. S. Department of Education (DOE), spoke with Tech & Learning Content Director Kevin Hogan about the DOE’s #GoOpen initiative. Learn how to make the shift to using openly licensed educational resources in their school districts.

This webinar will benefit district and building-level administrators, technology directors, technology coordinators, librarians and media specialists, board of education members, and other education staff involved in technology planning.
 

Andrew MarcinekAndrew Marcinek, Former Chief Open Education Advisor for the U.S. Department of Education. As Open Education Advisor at the Office of Education Technology, Andrew focused his work on helping PreK-12 school districts and state leaders connect with teaching, learning and research resources in the public domain that are freely available to anyone over the web. Previously, Andrew served as the Director of Technology for Grafton Public Schools. He previously served as an Instructional Technology Specialist for Burlington High School and helped lead the 1:1 iPad learning program as well as the creation of the Student Help Desk program. Andrew has designed and created a digital and information literacy course that focuses on Web 2.0 applications, Google Apps for Education, Information Literacy, and Digital Citizenship. Outside the classroom, Andrew has organized four edcamps and presented at various conferences around the country. Andrew recently published his first book, The 1:1 Roadmap.
