Parent involvement means more than getting parents into school. This type of limited involvement is often available to parents who are not in full-time employment and involves only a small percentage of the children’s parents. For students to get the most out of school, we need to promote parent and teacher partnerships for unlocking opportunities through family literacy.
In this edWebinar, hear from Patricia A. Edwards, Ph.D., Professor of Language and Literacy, Michigan State University, on the topics of:
- Understanding the importance of family-school partnerships in student success
- Understanding the role of school staff in helping all students and families feel a sense of belonging and connectedness to school
- Becoming acquainted with traditional and nontraditional approaches to communicating with parents
- Learning about new ways to engage parents
PreK through elementary educators are invited to watch this recorded event. Learn about getting parents more involved through family literacy.
