Developing Assessment-Capable Learners
Wednesday, October 3, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT
Presented by Dr. Douglas Fisher, Professor of Educational Leadership, San Diego State University, and Teacher Leader, Health Sciences High and Middle College, San Diego, CA
Sponsored by Achieve3000
We all know that collective efficacy is the new number one influence on students’ learning and there is good reason for that. In part, efficacious teachers ensure that their students are assessment-capable, which means that students understand their current level of performance and compare that with the desired level of learning. Assessment-capable learners and educators select direct, dialogic, and independent learning approaches they know will help attain their shared learning goals. They also seek and provide feedback from others while monitoring their learning all the way from acquisition through consolidation to mastery.
In this live edWebinar, Dr. Fisher explains what it means to be assessment-capable and shows examples of how educators can foster and encourage assessment-capable dispositions and actions in the students they work with.
This edWebinar is designed for all K12 educators, librarians, literacy leaders, and administrators. There will be time at the end of Dr. Fisher’s presentation to get your questions answered. Join us to learn about turning your students into assessment-capable learners.
