About the Presenters
Tanji Reed Marshall, Ph.D., CEO and Principal Consultant of Liaison Educational Partners, is a nationally recognized expert on educational equity and leadership. For nearly three decades, she has advanced practice on behalf of students of color, those experiencing economic uncertainty, and those perpetually left on the margins of the education system. She partners with states, school districts, schools, and education organizations to solve complex educational equity issues and ensure that every child receives the excellent equitable education they deserve.
Dr. Marshall’s latest project in supporting equity in curricula is as an advisor on Scholastic’s newest collection, Our Stories Decodables. She also recently served as the Director of P12 Practice with the Education Trust, a nonprofit educational equity and advocacy think tank in Washington, D.C. Dr. Marshall earned her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Virginia Tech, her M.A. in English education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and her B.A. in psychology from Boston College.
Dr. Amanda Alexander serves as Scholastic’s Chief Academic Officer. In this role, she leads research and validation efforts to ensure the efficacy of products, the delivery of professional learning services, and the company’s partnership with the Yale Child Study Center, focusing on the intersection of literacy and health. Prior to joining Scholastic, Dr. Alexander served as the Vice President of Policy and Partnership Development at Teachstone. With more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience, the majority of Dr. Alexander’s service has been as a practitioner in the public sector. She has a B.A. in English and an M.Ed. in curriculum and instruction from Howard University, an M.S.Ed. in educational leadership from Baruch College, and a Ph.D. in education from American University.
