How do we teach students to be critical thinkers online? What do students need to consider when they search online, and how do they evaluate the results they get? In this edWebinar, Ben Cogswell, elementary school teacher, coach, and edtech specialist, presents strategies for teaching students to be effective researchers and critical consumers of online media. He explains how online queries work and the steps to take to determine whether a webpage is trustworthy.
This edWebinar is geared toward K–12 teachers in all subject areas.
About the Presenter
Growing up in the ’80s and ’90s, Ben Cogswell was a kid on the edge of modern technology. He was a product of The Oregon Trail in black and white, AOL 1.0, and Carmen Sandiego on six floppy disks. Times were great! Fast-forward to 2018. After 12 years in the Alisal Union School District Ben has found his home. He has enjoyed his time working as a teacher, coach, edtech TOSA, and now a kindergarten teacher at Bardin Elementary School in Salinas, CA.
