About the Presenters
Dr. Joshua Hamzehee is a Communication Studies Professor and the Director of the Forensics Speech, Debate, and Performance Team at Santa Rosa Junior College, as well as an Outlier by Savvas Professional Communications Instructor. In his role as a performance and communication studies artist, scholar, practitioner, and coach, he engages in critical ethnographic methods, spoken-word roots, and remixed performance techniques. Dr. Hamzehee’s academic and creative scholarship in communication, performance studies, slam poetry, and forensics speech can be found in journals like Text & Performance Quarterly, Liminalities, and Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed Journal. He also tours performance projects paired with workshops, like Burnt City: A Dystopian Bilingual One-Persian Show; Baton Rouge SLAM!: An Obituary for Summer 2016; The Deported: A Reality Show!; CONVICT: The Age of Incarceration; and his solo poetry work.
A leader in education technology and advocacy, Collin Dennis brings a wealth of experience from diverse professional fields. His work in communications consulting at KCSA, financial services at Wells Fargo, and EdTech product and sales strategy at Outlier have positioned him to play a critical role in the expansion of Outlier’s dual enrollment product following Savvas Learning Company’s 2024 acquisition. As the founding class valedictorian of an upstart Florida high school, Collin credits this experience as the catalyst for his interest in making the college and workforce prep educational ethos more accessible. He earned a B.A. in political science and a minor in Chinese language from Davidson College. His passion extends to a decade-long tenure with Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC and extensive advocacy work within the NYC DOE, where he championed broader student support services and IEP development. His journey integrates educational privilege, professional acumen, and philanthropic commitment all aiming to increase global and local access to educational opportunities.
